  • Totalitarianism (totalitarian government)


    Of, relating to, being, or imposing a form of government in which the political authority exercises absolute and centralized control over all aspects of life, the individual is subordinated to the state, and opposing political and cultural expression is suppressed: "A totalitarian regime crushes all autonomous institutions in its drive to seize the human soul" (Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr.)

  • Censorship - not allowing the public to view or consume information that is deemed to be inappropriate by the government or authority.

  • Propaganda - biased or misleading information that persuades you to believe or do something (in the Nazi context, to support a particular political cause: Nazism)

  • Scapegoat- a person or group made to bear the blame for others or to suffer in their place.
